The Back Story

Manifesting Joy & The Road to Discovering The Smiling Dog

So many of the stories behind starting up a small business comes from a very soulful place, full of honest intent, truth and a certain passion for living life to it's fullest. My story includes a little more too, a place of loss and mourning when my pack of three Boston Terriers became, just one.

Not so long ago, I had three Boston Terriers in my care. These three stole my heart and soul. Of the three I still have my little guy, Governor. Eloise and Balsafar were to be in my care temporarily, but a few years passed, and I forgot that they would have to be returned to their own home one day.

So, I mourned, for a good long time. But, I still liked to cook. I found myself conjuring up deliciousness in my kitchen making new recipes and my pup always enjoyed the side dishes I would make for him to add to his rather bland kibble.

I turned a corner and started making small batch, healthy sourced home baked dog treats. I studied recipes and experimented. Although I have found that humans love to incorporate all the latest fad ingredients to the elevated level of pampered pup treats, some are not so great.

My Governor sniffs and spits out the trending extra fancy fancy dog cookies in local shops. Tough cookies, painted with colorful frosting designed for the amusement of humans. Dogs do not care about cute, they want purely delicious (and we want unadulterated goodness).

What would my dog actually like to eat? It was and is my intent to invent and create great mixtures using healthy savory ingredients that most dogs kind of love.

In addition to healthy, preservative free, US sourced human grade ingredients I also make sure my biscuits are packaged and stored in a way that  guarantees they will be in their freshest state upon delivery.

I like to think that  the love I put into each and every hand cut biscuit shines through as your pup enjoys a little nugget of goodness in every single bite.

And a little more about me - from attending a New England prep school, to living in Haight Ashbury, San Francisco in the 70's, bopping around a good portion of the States, Mexico, Canada & Europe, getting that Bachelors Degree, seeing the Rolling Stones & the Grateful Dead, and of course marriages, divorces, children, love, loss and being alive before microwave ovens, cable tv, cell phones, the internet and cars without bumpers .. I just can't wait to see what happens next.

Love to you all & the furry beings we cherish & adore
